Madness

Infos zu Madness

Madness was founded in 1976 in London as a ska band. Members of the British ska combo during their greatest successes were Graham "Suggs" McPherson (vocals), Mike "Monsieur Barson" Barson (keyboard), Chris "Chrissy Boy" Foreman (guitar), Mark "Bedders" Bedford (bass), Lee "Kix" Thompson (saxophone, vocals) and Dan "Woody" Woodgate (drums).

Between the years 1986 to 1992 the band split up in the meantime. But this did not stop their success until today. With their music, celebrated by fans and critics as Nutty Sound, a mixture of Ska, Pop and Punk as well as their playfulness, the Brits established themselves as permanent stars in the Ska cosmos. With 15 songs, including "One Step Beyond", "Our House" and "House Of Fun", the musicians also made it into the top ten of the UK charts.

Besides The Specials, Madness are among the most prominent representatives of two-tone ska, a British music genre that combines influences from ska, punk rock and new wave. Madness' 13th studio album "Can't Touch Us Now", which was released in 2016, reached number five in the UK album charts.
