Roger Waters

Born in 1943 in Great Bookham, UK, Roger Waters got early in contact with the folk and singer-songwriter music of Bob Dylan or John Lennon. In the age of 22 Waters founded the band "Sigma 6" with his friends Richard Wright and Nick Mason. These three guys also formed the foundation of Pink Floyd. 

After band leader, main composer and song writer Syd Barrett left Pink Floyd, Waters became the head of the band. Especially the LPs Animals, The Wall und The Final Cut (Pink Floyd) beared his signature. The LP The Final Cut is the only album of Pink Floyd which was composed only of Waters compositions. Largely influence had Waters also on the concept, the show and the movie for The Wall.

After finishing the Pink Floyd LP The Final Cut, his first Solo LP The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking and a Tour (with Eric Clapton 1984/85) Waters wanted to split up the band. But he had to face the opposition of his band members. So Waters decided to leave Pink Floyd in 1985 instead of splitting up.

In the years after the separation Waters focused himself on his solo career. His fans and critics were mostly positive about his studio albums. Nevertheless Waters wasn't able to tie the success he had in his years as member of Pink Floyd.

With his newest LP Is This the LifeW Really Want he reached for the first time in his solo career the first place of a music billboard chart. In June 2017 he climbed up on first place of swiss billboards.
