The Weeknd

Behind the pseudonym The Weeknd hides the February 16, 1990 in Scarborough, Toronto, born R&B / hip-hop singer Abel Makkonen Tesfaye.

The Weeknd found an important advocate on his way to superstardom in Canadian rapper Drake. Drake, who only became one of the hottest rap superstars at the end of the noughties, became an influential mentor for The Weeknd at the beginning of his career. Through his web channels, Drake praised Abel in the highest terms. The Weeknd mixtape "House of Balloons" will be released for free download on March 21, 2011. This will be followed by the mixtapes "Thursday" (August 18, 2011) and "Echoes of Silence" (December 21). The three mixtapes will be released on November 13 in a trilogy with some new songs.

Drake lets himself be carried away to great words in the booklet of his second album "Take Care", on which The Weeknd featured him on two songs: "To Abel: Meeting you changed my life. And believe it or not, you are responsible for how badly I want this album to be one that sticks in the mind. You are a gifted soul and have given the world something extremely special."

In 2013, The Weeknd returned the favor on debut album "Kiss Land." On the LP, the only feature part went to Drake. This was followed by the album "Beauty Behind the Madness" (2015) in collaboration Lana Del Rey and Ed Sheeran. On the third studio album "Starboy" The Weeknd celebrates his pop star status and collaborates with Future, Kendrick Lamar, Daft Punk and works again with Lana del Rey.
